Visitors to the Royal Derby Hospital should note that Car Park 1 will be closed from Monday, 12 November, until further notice.
This is because a temporary modular ward is due to be built on Car Park 1 from this day, which will provide 28 additional beds to the Trust.
We plan for the modular ward to be available for patients by Christmas, with the additional beds helping to reduce expected winter pressures on the Royal Derby Hospital and London Road Community Hospital, whilst also improving patient experience.
Visitors should also note that Car Park 1 will be closed all day on Tuesday, 6 November, whilst essential pipe works take place.
In order to reduce the impact of the closure of Car Park 1 on patients, alternative car parking for patients and visitors will be provided at Car Park 6 from Monday, 12 November. From this date, Car Park 6 will therefore be reserved for members of the public only, until further notice.
We would however urge patients and visitors to please consider using public transport when visiting our hospitals, where possible.
Ensuring quality care for our patients is our number one priority as a Trust and, whilst this development will allow us to see more patients, we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the car park closure.
