I did my training and worked in Derby as a nurse for many years before my retirement in 2010 and was lucky enough to have been elected as a governor in 2011. I am passionate about the NHS and have a wealth of experience both as a member of staff and as a patient and visitor and as such have seen many changes over the years.
During my time as a governor I have focused on becoming involved in groups looking at the quality of care delivered and the patient experience initially in the Derby Hospitals but since the merger last year at UHDB. My role as a governor is to try to ensure that the public voice is heard in the Trust during these challenging times in the NHS, which is what I and my fellow governors try to achieve.
