My name is Barry Hunt and I have been a Resident of Lichfield since 2007, I am married with a young family as well as grown up children. I enjoy good health, cycling and music and play guitar as a pastime.
The accessibility of the Samuel Johnson Hospital has been a great comfort to my family and so I decided early on to become a member of the Trust to keep in touch with developments. Over recent years I have needed to rely on the excellent care provided at Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth Hospitals for Consultancy, Surgical and A&E support.
I believe strongly in the value of community supported by local resources. Since changes in the Trust were proposed in 2017, my interest has become more active, attending meetings and posting questions aimed at raising awareness of the value placed on these facilities and promoting continued access to people locally.
As a recently retired Local Government officer and Building Surveyor, I now have time to give back to the Trust in recognition of the support I have received. I feel that my experience both professionally and currently as a school governor responsible for finance, equips me with the skill to contribute to the strategic scrutiny and debate around securing services and maintaining standards within constrained budgets.
I am an able communicator keen to contribute to community engagement through local forums and events to encourage active membership and to raise awareness of the Trust and its work.
