David Williams, Governor

David Williams As a physiotherapist working in a rotational role, I have the privilege to work in many different services making me well placed to listen and represent.

I believe that is important that staff voices are heard in decisions we make about our future plans for health and care. I am passionate about improving health and care for our patients across UHDB. I want us to provide the best quality care for our patients and the best environment for our staff, whilst holding our leaders accountable. Leadership is a thread that runs throughout my life. I have had a diverse career and a non-traditional route into healthcare. I served with the Royal Marines until my military career was cut short through injury. My experiences of rehabilitation and wanting to continue to serve the public lead me to become a physiotherapist. I continue to support the armed forces and lead the Armed Forces Network within UHDB ensuring veterans receive the best care.

In my community, I am a trustee of a small charity that provides aid and support for vulnerable residents during the pandemic. I have also developed expertise in governance, assurance and strategy as a school governor. We must be innovative and I believe the Allied Health Professions have a huge potential in making a difference within UHDB. I will ensure that AHPs are heard, supported and championed.
