Pathology stores orders

GPs should note that, due to staffing issues, the Trust will have difficulty in fulfilling orders for Pathology stock in the week 12-16 August.

Trust launching AKI alert

On 8 August, UHDB is going live with an interruptive AKI alert. This means that, for any patient at Burton with an AKI alert/warning, prescribers will not be able to prescribe any medication until the AKI care bundle has been completed.

Trust welcomes new Chair

On 1 August, UHDB welcomed new Chair Dr Kathy McLean OBE to the Trust, as she officially began her new role.

Cardiac care offered closer to patients’ homes

Patients in Burton and the surrounding areas are now benefitting from receiving cardiac care closer to home, in another example of the benefits being provided to patients one year on from the creation of UHDB on 1 July 2018.

Top scores for Trust over dementia care

The results from the Round 4 data collection period saw improvements in 6 of the 7 categories for the Royal Derby Hospital and in 3 of the domains for Queen’s Hospital Burton.

Audit finds high rates of unnecessary imaging for shoulder pain

A recent audit of referrals to the outpatient physiotherapy service at London Road Community Hospital found that a high proportion of patients with rotator cuff pain / impingement symptoms were being referred for x-ray and ultrasound scans.

Estimated GFR is changing

From August 2019 the Chemical Pathology Laboratory at Royal Derby Hospital will change the equation that is used to calculate the estimated GFR (eGFR).
