I was a governor for the Burton Trust until the Derby Trust acquired the Burton Trust last July. I was an active and involved governor throughout my term. I attended meetings and got very involved in hospital life. I took queries and concerns from constituents and followed them through to ensure a satisfactory reply was obtained from the Trust. I took my duties very seriously! I have a great love of the NHS.
My son Lewis was born at Burton Hospital and the care my wife Rachael and I received at this time will be remembered with the utmost fondness forever.
I will challenge and support as and when necessary. I will ensure I am easily contactable should any constituents (patients) wish to bring in any issues through me. I recognise the pressures the staff are under due to cuts and various changes and will support the staff at every possible opportunity.
I am a proud member of the Labour Party who created the NHS just over 70 years ago. I run my own business but give up my spare time to the community in many ways, local council, helping the homeless, environmental issues, as a school governor and in many other ways. I have a strong social conscience!
