A tribute to Jackie Fenney

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jacqueline Fenney on 13 December 2021.

Jacqueline, or Jackie as she was known, was a Senior Sister / Senior Theatre Practitioner at Queen's Hospital Burton who joined the Trust in 1979 and not long ago celebrated her 40 years long service award. Jackie quickly became a valued member of the Theatre team, progressing through the profession to become Lead Practitioner for ENT in 2000.

Gavin Boyle, Chief Executive, said: “Jackie’s colleagues say her dedication to nursing shone through and that everyone who had the pleasure of working with her would say that she was the heart of the ENT Theatre Service. She was also a fountain of knowledge and incredibly supportive to colleagues and they say Jackie was well respected throughout her professional career by all colleagues and medical staff. In addition, Jackie mentored many Theatre staff, ensuring their induction was a smooth and positive experience. She was always someone colleagues could turn to for advice and help.

“Away from work she pursued her love of travelling, walking and creative crafts, as well as many charitable causes. Colleagues and friends of Jackie describe her as loyal and kind and that her generosity was limitless. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
