We want to make your move to UHDB as easy as possible. The Trust has access to a range of residential accommodation, for example single bedrooms or couple sized flats, all at affordable rental prices.
We understand that our employees have commitments outside of work; at UHDB we want to help our staff have a healthy balance between work life and childcare responsibilities. Our Flexi-Working policies and discounts allow our staff various ways in which they can work flexibly and take care of their families.
The NHS Pension provides our employees with the most effective way to save for their retirement. As an employer, it is our duty to provide you with a significant contribution towards your pension. You would also have additional benefits for your family, including death in service benefit, survivors’ benefit and an ill health pension.
We offer a salary sacrifice schemes on a range of benefits including Cycle to Work and Lease Cars, which allow our staff to make significant savings compared to usual retail prices.
UHDB offers an extensive amount of staff discounts and benefits. Our employees can find hundreds of exclusive deals from big brands, saving money on holidays and travel, fashion and retail, entertainment and leisure, health and beauty, home and garden, electrical goods, finance and motoring through our partnered NHS Discounts site. Our dedicated staff benefits team is always on hand to help you and they have secured exclusive local discounts from gyms, restaurants, hairdressers and many more.
We know that many NHS staff want to be able to work flexibly, or to be able to work beyond their current role. University Hospitals of Derby and Burton offers a really attractive opportunity to do both through its bank. In doing so we are able to call on a flexible workforce for a variety of staff groups across many settings and specialties. This enables us to ensure we have good teamwork, safe staffing levels and continuity of care for our patients.
The Trust has a comprehensive library with over 20,000 books, 2,000 e-books, 100 journals and 300 e-journals, the library provides free literature service for all our employees. It has an extensive range of facilities from Wi-Fi, over 40 networked PC’s to over 90 study spaces and Seminar and IT rooms.
Across our hospitals we have restaurants open seven days a week, where all our staff can receive a discount. Our hospitals have a range of cafes, including Starbucks and Costa Coffee, as well as M&S Simply Food and a range of convenience Shops. We also have League of Friends outlets in our hospitals.
