Will Monaghan, Chief Digital Information Officer, set to take up new Midlands role

Executive Chief Digital Information Officer, Will Monaghan

Will Monaghan, Executive Chief Digital Information Officer at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB), has today (Wednesday 21 February) announced that he is taking up a new position as Group Chief Digital Information Officer at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and University Hospitals Northamptonshire (UHN) Group.

Will joined UHDB in February 2023 as the Trust's first Chief Digital Information Officer, and has been instrumental in driving forward UHDB's electronic patient record (EPR) programme - a tailored digital solution that will mean all staff at UHDB and Chesterfield Royal Hospital can access patient records using one system, to support joined up patient care.

Sharing his decision, Will said: "I am really proud of the progress we have made at UHDB across the digital and data agenda, where our approach has really put the needs of staff front and centre.

"Whilst we have achieved much together, the opportunity to join what is my local hospital in Leicestershire is something I am delighted to be taking on.

"Our digital team at UHDB, with the support of our engaged staff, has gone from strength to strength and I look forward to seeing the Trust's electronic patient care record fully implemented under their expertise."

Will is set to join University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and University Hospitals Northamptonshire Group, which collectively supports around 30,000 staff, in the summer.

On Will's announcement, UHDB Chief Executive Stephen Posey said: "During the time Will has been with us at UHDB he has made a considerable contribution to our digital agenda, putting the right foundations in place to help us transform what we do digitally here for the benefit of staff and patients alike.

"On behalf of UHDB, we wish Will every success in his new role and are sure his expertise will continue to serve the NHS well."

Will has formerly held roles at NHS England, where he worked as Transition Director and Director of Operations in NHS Transformation, and has more than 14 years of NHS experience across NHS England, NHSX and acute trusts.
