Burton Albion pay surprise visit to Queen's Hospital Burton to donate Christmas gifts

Burton Albion staff paid a surprise visit to patients and staff at Queen's Hospital Burton

Patients at Queen’s Hospital Burton were given an early Christmas gift yesterday (15 December 2022) as members of the team from Burton Albion Football Club paid a visit to deliver presents and spread festive cheer.

First team manager, Dino Maamria, was joined by former Brewers players and now members of their academy staff, Shaun Barker and Keith Gilroy, as they visited the Neonatal Department and Children’s Ward 1 to say hello to young patients, their families and colleagues.

Burton Albion staff paid a surprise visit to patients and staff at Queen's Hospital Burton Jo Bridge, Paediatric Matron for Outpatients, Community and Specialist Services, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for everyone at Burton Albion for giving up their time to visit our patients and staff today, and for the generous amounts of gifts too! We had a number of patients who are huge Burton Albion fans in our hospital today, and it really made their day to see the team.”

The Brewers team members also popped in to Children’s Outpatients, Urology and Ward 801 to say a quick hello to staff and patients during their visit.

Brewers manager Dino Maamria said the visit was a pleasure to be involved in: “Coming to see everyone at Queen’s Hospital Burton at Christmas is something we as a Club look forward to every year, and it was wonderful to be able to spend some time with patients and their families – as well as the staff who work so hard not just at Christmas, but every day of the year.
