Could you be one of our next Public Governors? Join us and make a difference to your local NHS

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) is now accepting nominations to join our Council of Governors as a public Governor.

Our Council of Governors are crucial partners in helping us on our journey towards delivering Exceptional Care Together and shaping the future of UHDB.

We have 10 positions across seven constituencies for which we are currently seeking nominations:

  • Amber Valley and Derbyshire Dales (two vacancies)
  • South Derbyshire
  • East Staffordshire
  • Erewash
  • Derby City (three vacancies)
  • Lichfield and Tamworth
  • Rest of England / Northwest Leicestershire

We are now accepting nominations from candidates who can provide a direct link into our local communities to help us improve health services and represent the diverse issues, views and ideas of the more than one million people we serve across Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

As a Trust, we are on working to refresh our five-year strategy, Our Way to Exceptional Care Together, and our Governors provide am invaluable link between our organisation and our communities, helping to ensure that our direction as an NHS organisation continues to meet the health needs of the one million people we serve in our communities.

The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Thursday 18 April.

What is the role of a Public Governor?

As a Public Governor, you will have the opportunity to help shape the strategic direction to visit areas of the Trust and meet staff and patients, to hear from our senior leadership team, and to hold our Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Trust Board.

Our Governors also have an increasingly important role to play in our work in the two local health and care systems we are a part of - meaning you have the opportunity to influence the way the Trust considers the need of more than one million people in our communities across Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

If you support our Trust values of compassion, excellence and openness and would like to represent the public voice and diversity of your local community, we would love to hear from you.
