Jess completed her Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration apprenticeship. She has now secured a full time role as a support secretary within the Ear, Nose and Throat & Plastic Surgery department, based in Head and Neck Outpatients. Jess completed her apprenticeship in January with Derby College.
Jess said: "I chose an apprenticeship as I didn't want to go to university, I wanted an alternative route into a career. My apprenticeship has really helped improve my confidence. Before starting, I was quite shy but my involvement with different people, including colleagues and patients, has really helped change that!"
"My day-to-day jobs include typing up consultant letters, arranging waiting lists for patients and also general office admin."
"I would definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship at UHDB Trust as everyone is really friendly and helpful here, and it has a really positive working environment."
