We care for patients requiring elective or trauma surgery.
Our patients suffer with symptoms of back and or leg pain, altered sensation in their hands or legs and can have impaired bladder or bowel function.
We work closely with the specialist spinal unit in Sheffield to support patients with complex spinal care needs; some of our patients are transferred there for ongoing care and rehabilitation. We also work with our colleagues at Kings Lodge, at London Road Community Hospital, which is our neuro-rehabilitation unit.
We also care for patients who are admitted following traumatic injuries, such as ankle fractures, long bone injuries and hand injuries.
Same day emergency spinal referrals from General Practice and other organisations can now be made through our electronic referral system, Refer Back. If you are referring from outside UHDB then please register, select the Royal Derby Hospital option as your institution, and then direct your referral to Royal Derby Spinal Centre.
