Cancer Services team run 10k to promote their patient focussed cancer app

Cancer Services

Three members of the Cancer Services Team took part in the Derby 10k over the weekend to raise money and promote their app for patients living with cancer.

Kerry Pape, Lead Cancer Nurse Manager ran with Sophie Powell and Natalie Hallam donned in their very best fancy dress and promotional gear to let others know how they can download the app.

The team said: “The app is a really good resource for our patients as well as staff. It signposts patients on where to find appropriate support, lots of information from Macmillan on specific cancer types, most common worries that come with a diagnosis, how to get funding and grants to help with household bills.

“There is also a media section with lots of videos - including Active Recovery videos from Derby County Community Trust, links to podcasts, videos on coping with hairloss. It's a great catalogue of support.”

The team developed the app throughout covid when face to face contact had decreased, and it was another way of offering support to patients from the comfort of their own home.

If you’d like to download the app, search for “UHDB Cancer” in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
