Derby MP praises 'amazing' Vaccine Hub staff during visit

MP Amanda Solloway visits staff at the Royal Derby Hospital Vaccine Hub

MP for Derby North Amanda Solloway has praised the incredible work of UHDB staff as second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine began being administered this week.

Amanda today (6 March) paid a visit to the vaccination hub at Royal Derby Hospital, which began administering second doses of the vaccine to staff and patients earlier this week.

More than 20,000 jabs are set to be given at the hubs at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen’s Hospital Burton, which will open later in March, over the coming weeks as the national vaccination programme continues to gather pace.

Amanda said: “The staff at Royal Derby Hospital never fail to amaze me with the amazing work that they do, particularly with their efforts at the vaccination hub to get staff and patients vaccinated as quickly as possible. It’s always a pleasure to meet with the team and see how things have been going for them.”

Caitlin Richens, Vaccine Hub Programme Manager at UHDB, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mrs Solloway to the hub at Royal Derby Hospital and it has been a boost to staff to hear her kind words.

“We have a big team of around 250 members of staff working in the Derby hub alone, and everyone has worked so hard to make the process smooth, calm and efficient for those receiving their vaccination.

“I am extremely proud of the team for the service they are providing for our staff and communities during what has been a challenging period.”
