Did you spot the NHS Spitfire flying over Royal Derby Hospital at the weekend?

Spitfire in flight

Crowds gathered outside Royal Derby Hospital this weekend to catch a glimpse of a very special tribute to our NHS .. from way up in the clouds!

A spitfire bearing the names of 80,000 NHS workers completed a special fly over different hospitals up and down the country on Sunday, with the message "Thank U NHS" painted on the bottom of its wings for our #NHSHeroes to see.

After taking off from Duxford Airfield, near Cambridge, at around 10am, we were delighted to see the Spitfire fly high above RDH nearly half an hour later, as it made its second stop at one of a number of different hospitals nationwide.

In total, the NHS Spitfire flew over 23 hospitals throughout the day, in a bid to say thank you to all of our colleagues in the NHS for their superhuman efforts over the last few months, as we've battled Covid-19 together.

The special fly-over also took place to raise funds for NHS Charities Together and lots of our colleagues were on hand to snap some pictures as it flew proudly above RDH. You can see some of them below.
