Governors send message of thanks to staff on NHS birthday
Governors at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton has sent supportive messages to staff across the Trust for the work they have done through the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 20 Governors have sent in a three word message, which have been turned into a social media gif. Staff can watch the message on social media or the trust intranet and tap the screen to reveal one of the 20 messages to them.
Maura Teager, Lead Governor, said: “Over the last three months many of the governors have been physically distanced from all of our sites across UHDB, we have done this to help protect ourselves, our families and our NHS locally, but more than that we wanted to show our absolute solidarity with all of colleagues working across the health and social care sectors.
“We have been kept in touch and up to date through various internal and external media channels and any areas of concern raised by us, on behalf of our constituents, have been rapidly responded to so that we are able to reassure and inform our local communities wherever possible.
“The overwhelming feeling from governors is filled with pride, humility and awe at the tremendous courage, commitment and compassion demonstrated by all the staff and their families across all the services and sites across UHDB.
“One of the Governors remarked, poignantly, ‘it’s not a war or a front line, and you don't have to be heroic or superhuman, or not display fear, to make the difference, whatever the difference is’.
“We are also mindful of those staff who are shielding and the feeling of isolation that this can bring for them from their families and work colleagues. We have collated the following three word messages from governors.”
