Help us to mark NHS 72 in style!

This weekend the NHS turns 72!

The last 12 months have been the most challenging yet in the NHS' history, so this year we will be marking this milestone a little bit differently. See below for more details.

  • On Saturday 4 July, we will be remembering those who have sadly lost their lives to Covid-19, including our colleagues. You can join us by shining a light from your window at 8pm and sharing with us on social media using #LightItBlue and #ThankYouTogether. Please don’t leave candles unattended.
  • On Sunday 5 July, you’re invited to take part in the biggest, loudest and final clap for carers and key workers at 5pm. You can join us outside the front of our hospitals, in your area of work or outside your homes. Make sure you share the moment with us on our social media pages @uhdbtrust!
  • To mark NHS 72, Avtar Samrai, one of our porters at RDH, will be appearing on ITV News Central tonight (Friday 3 July) from 6pm. Avtar is one of three NHS colleagues from across the region who will appear tonight to share their pride in representing the NHS, as well as their experiences of working through Covid
  • The Florence Nightingale Foundation has released a special collage of nurses and midwives working on the frontline during Covid to mark NHS 72. You can read more here.

Many people are lonely and isolated at the moment. If you can, reach out to them and let them know they are supported.
