How we will keep in touch about your outpatient appointment
If you're waiting for an outpatient appointment with us, we will use text messages, phone calls and letters to contact you to:
- Check you still need to be on our wait list for an appointment.
- Remind you about your appointment, with options to manage your slot
- Offer appointments sooner if a slot comes up
By using secure text messages and phone calls, we can give patients more control over their appointments while helping reduce delays and missed appointments. We have introduced a system called Patient Hub to help you manage your appointments easier.
About Patient Hub: helping you to manage your appointments online
Patient Hub is a secure online portal that allows you to view and manage your outpatient appointments in one place.
Using Patient Hub, you can:

Here's more details about how we will contact you:
To check you still need to be on our wait list for an appointment.
If you’re on a waiting list for an appointment, you may receive a text message every 12 weeks asking whether you still need your appointment. This helps ensure waiting lists are accurate and that appointments go to patients who still need care.
To remind you about your outpatient appointment, with options to manage your slot.
Once your appointment is booked, you’ll receive a confirmation text, followed by reminder messages nine, seven and two days before your appointment. These messages include a secure link to Patient Hub so you can confirm attendance, cancel, or request a rebooking if needed.
To offer appointments sooner if a slot comes up.
If a short notice appointment becomes available, our automated Booking Bot may contact you by phone or text to offer you the slot. If you accept, one of our team will finalise the booking with you.
What you need to do
Please make sure your contact details with your GP are up to date as we will use this to contact you and please respond to messages promptly. This helps us care for more patients sooner.
