Runners looking to complete the iconic London Marathon 2027 can now apply for a charity place to raise funds to support local NHS patients, families and staff across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB).

Applications can now be submitted online > (opens in new tab), thanks to Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity who have purchased a limited number of places, giving runners the chance to experience the unforgettable atmosphere and complete the 26.2-mile run on Sunday 25 April 2027.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to choose where their fundraising makes an impact across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and are encouraged to include this in their application. Runners will receive dedicated support throughout their journey as part of Team DBHC, including a training shirt and race day kit, fundraising guidance and materials, and a post-event celebration.

Alternatively, funds can be directed to where the need is greatest, helping to enhance patient comfort and experience, fund advanced medical equipment, improve hospital environments, support community projects and enable innovative research and training.

Jill Matthews, Chief Officer of Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “We’re incredibly excited to open applications for the 2027 London Marathon. This is an amazing opportunity to take on a once in a lifetime challenge while making a real difference to local patients, visitors and NHS staff. We can’t wait to welcome our next team of runners and support them every step of the way.”

All applications will be reviewed by a selection panel, which is expected to meet in June and applicants will be contacted once a decision has been made.
