Thanks to the exceptional care provided by Team UHDB staff, more than 2,000 patients who have beaten COVID-19 have now been discharged from University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and are now back home with their families.

Throughout the whole of the pandemic, staff across our five hospital sites have been working tirelessly to help keep our communities safe and healthy.

Neil Radford Divisional Director of Medicine, Neil Radford said: “It is encouraging seeing these numbers of patients who have fought COVID-19 leave our hospitals and return to their loved ones to continue their recoveries. A massive thanks to all of our fantastic staff and those working in our Discharge Assessment Units.”

On Monday, 30 November our Discharge Assessment Team are gearing up to move location. The team will be moving from Level 3 to the front of the Royal Derby Hospital, near our Medical Outpatients Department.

Lizzie Sidders, Senior Sister in the Discharge Assessment Unit Lizzie Sidders said: “It’s exciting times ahead, a new challenge and a step forward for the Discharge Lounge. It is fantastic that we have finally found a permanent location. I’m proud of my team for everything they have achieved for themselves and our patients throughout 2020.”
