New changing places facility supporting patients and visitors with disabilities at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital
A brand-new Changing Places toilet facility, which supports patients and visitors with disabilities, is now available at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.
The purpose-built facility offers enhanced space and specialist equipment to create a safe, dignified, and comfortable environment for individuals with complex needs and their carers.
Located on Level 2 near Entrance B, the room includes a height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench, a ceiling-mounted electronic hoist, a height-adjustable sink, a peninsular toilet, a shower, non-slip flooring, and a privacy screen. The space is designed to accommodate one person and up to two carers, allowing for safe and supported personal care in a comfortable and dignified setting.
Cheryl Mallen, Community Programmes Manager and Site Manager for Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, said the addition will support accessibility.
Cheryl said: "We’re proud to be able to offer a Changing Places facility at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. This new facility marks a meaningful step forward in improving accessibility for our patients and visitors—and reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can access appropriate facilities when visiting Florence Nightingale Community Hospital."
The facility can be accessed using a radar key, which is available from the main reception on Level 2.
