#TeamUHDB appoints two NExT Directors to join our Trust Board as part of innovative NHS scheme
UHDB has appointed two NExt Directors to join our Trust Board, as part of an innovative NHS initiative.
The Trust agreed to participate in NHS England/Improvement’s NExt Director scheme, a developmental programme to offer aspiring Non-Executive Directors the experience required to undertake a Non-Executive Director role.
The two successful candidates were Pamela Gupta and Roy Shubhabrata.
Pamela has a quarter of a century of experience in the media industry, having worked at international, national and regional level for the BBC, including in Derby, having grown up in the City.
She is also a former Acting Director of Media at the BRIT School.
Roy, meanwhile, has spent nearly two decades focused on digital transformation in healthcare across Europe, North America and Asia.
He is currently the Chief Executive of Healthinnova, a global healthcare consultancy, and also serves as a Trustee of Age UK and a Governor at the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
Roy has a degree in health economics and international health policy from the London School of Economics.
Dr Kathy McLean OBE, Chair, said: “This is a really exciting development for the Trust. I’m pleased that we have been able to develop this role, one where we can share our experience, but also draw upon the experience of the two successful candidates. We had very strong interest in the roles so it is a credit to both Pamela and Roy that they have been successful.
"Pamela and Roy will both bring significant experience of different industries and sectors to the Trust and I’m looking forward to seeing them make a positive contribution over the next year. Both Pamela and Roy joined their first meetings of the Board today and I’d like to formally welcome them to UHDB.”
NExT Directors attend Trust Board meetings but are not voting members.
