UHDB appoints Interim Executive Chief Nurse

Garry Marsh, UHDB's Interim Executive Chief Nurse

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton have appointed Garry Marsh as Interim Executive Chief Nurse. Garry will join the Trust on Monday 23 May 2022 from The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, where he has been Executive Chief Nurse.

Garry replaces Phil Bolton, who is leaving shortly to take up the role of Chief Nurse at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.

Simon Crowther, Deputy Chief Executive, said: “Garry brings with him a wealth of nursing and operational experience, having been in the NHS for more than 20 years. This includes his most recently role at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and previously as Deputy Chief Nurse at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

“Our services are rated as Good for caring by the CQC, which is a testament to the care our nurses provide at the Trust. We’re really looking forward to Garry joining the Trust and continuing the work to support our nurses that Cathy Winfield and Phil Bolton have done.”

The process to recruit a substantive Executive Chief Nurse is ongoing and an announcement will be made in due course.
