UHDB colleagues and patients meet Derbyshire County Cricket Club players and staff in special festive visit
Colleagues and patients at our Florence Nightingale Community Hospital (FNCH) site were paid a special visit by players and coaching staff from Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC) ahead of the Christmas holiday season, arranged by our partners Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.
Visiting Ward 4, a Stroke rehabilitation ward, and Ward 5, an extended discharge lounge. DCCC met with patients and staff, handed out gifts, and spread festive cheer in their own time to "give something back" to their communities: taking photos, signing cards and club memorabilia, and listening to the patients' stories both during their hospital stay, and beyond!
Speaking to the Charity team, Jimmy Drew, DCCC's Commercial Manager said that it was a "privilege" to spend time with FNCH patients and staff during visit, saying:
"You can really feel the difference a simple conversation or a small gesture makes. Visits like this remind us why [connecting with our community] matters".
You can read more about the visit on the Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity website >, as well as watching a video that captures their visit across the day >.
