UHDB Dementia Annual Event to be hosted on Monday 20 October 2025
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) colleagues in our Dementia team will be hosting their Dementia Annual Event at Royal Derby Hospital this month, taking place on Monday 20 October 2025.
Held from 10am to 3pm in the Education Centre Lecture Theatre, Level 2, the event is open to everyone – including patients, carers, family members, staff and members of the public – who want to learn more about dementia and the wide range of support available. No registration is required and the event is free to attend.
The aim of the event is to help people caring for loved ones or patients with dementia to provide holistic care and better understand the services available both in hospital and in the community. Attendees will be able to meet directly with healthcare professionals, seek advice, ask questions, and even self-refer to some services on the day.
There will also be information on supporting people with dementia during hospital stays, at home and throughout the community, with particular guidance on how families and carers can access the right help at the right time. The event will also highlight how to support loved ones with dementia during the festive season, a period that can be particularly challenging for many families.
In addition to the opportunity to connect with services, visitors will be able to enjoy refreshments - including cakes and samosas, throughout the day.
Dilprit Shergill, from UHDB’s Dementia Team, said: “This event is about raising awareness of the many services available for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. It’s a chance to bring together expertise from across UHDB and our community partners, so that people can find the support they need and feel confident about where to turn for help.”
