Congratulations to UHDB colleague Aklak Choudhury, who has been appointed Clinical Director for Improvement for the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
Aklak, who works at the Trust as a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Deputy Medical Director for Quality and Safety, currently supports improvements across our organisation as Trust Clinical Lead for Improvement and Chair of Learning from Deaths group. He is also senior editor for our Quality, Safety and Learning (QSL) platform, which is a central hub of shared learning for colleagues.
As part of his new role for the RCP, Aklak will lead on its strategy for improvement and training and will support a number of improvement initiatives with key national stakeholders, while overseeing the organisation's Chief Registrars Programme, National Audit Programme and leading its Medical Care Driving Change programme.
Aklak said: "I am very excited for the opportunity to shape improvement for doctors on behalf of the RCP. I hope my passion for continuous quality improvement and what I have learnt at UHDB will help to develop doctor's identities as improvers in their hospitals at a national level, all for the benefit of patients."
