Ward receives award for supporting a colleague with depression at RDH

ward 405 receives

Ward 405 were awarded with a monthly Making a Difference Award from Becky Warren, Modern Housekeeper, a member of the team who was considering leaving the NHS.

The nomination read: “Two years ago, I suffered from very bad depression and wanted to leave the NHS, and was then redeployed to work on ward 405.

“I have never had so much support and encouragement from a team of managers in all my years of working in the NHS, who encourage me to learn more and become more patient focused.

“I would like this team to receive this award for helping me become a better person and for making me love my job again.”

Director of Nursing, Phil Bolton, presented the team with their award in person to thank the team for their support to this colleague. He said: “At times like these you really need things like this to help pick you up.

“I think what makes this even more special is that it’s someone from the team who recognises their hard work.

On receiving the Team UHDB award, Sophie Wright, Senior Sister on ward 405, said: “We work hard in supporting our staff to be the best version of themselves both in and outside of work.

“The whole team has a fantastic relationship and really support each other through everything and anything. We always strive to provide the best patient care we can. We want work to be a fun place and have a laugh at the same time.

“We understand that working on an acute care of the elderly ward is a real challenge at times, particularly at the moment, so by supporting them and being there for all the staff makes a big difference.”
