Dr Goddard's main areas of research have been around iron deficiency anaemia, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease and bowel cancer screening. Dr Goddard was clinical lead for the Derbyshire Bowel Cancer Screening Service until 2019 and is now President of the Royal College of Physicians.

I am working as a Consultant at Queen’s Hospital, Burton since August 2011. I completed my Registrar rotation from East Midlands Deanery. I am a General Paediatrician with primary interest in Allergy. I also deliver General Paediatric clinics and see patients with general paediatric and respiratory problems. I am undergraduate lead for Child health block for Leicester medical school students.
I am the Lead for risk management in the department. I am NLS instructor and regularly teach on these courses and run neonatal simulations within the department for junior doctors for teaching and training purpose. I am an accredited Educational supervisor. I lead on various audit projects including national audits. I am actively involved in teaching within the department. I contribute to the on call rota which includes covering neonates.
