UHDB online patient portal now available for adult outpatients across all of our hospitals

Outpatients receiving treatment at any one of UHDB’s five hospitals can now access a new online patient portal designed to make it easier for them to view information relating to their own care.

The portal provides a secure online space for patients to access hospital letters, appointment details and a library of health resources, to enable them to track and self-monitor their health and symptoms.

On top of this, the free portal enables patients to share their up-to-date health record with health professionals, as well as with a family member or carer, so that they can be helped to manage their appointments, should they need this assistance.

The service, which is provided in partnership with Patients Know Best, has been on offer for Royal Derby Hospital and London Road Community Hospital patients since February 2019 but has now been rolled out to patients across all five UHDB hospital sites.

All adult outpatients will now receive an invitation – either through the post or via email – to register to the portal, which they will then be able to access from the comfort of their own homes, via their phone, tablet, or computer.

Patients should rest assured however that use of the new portal is completely optional and if they choose not to register to the portal, they don’t have to do anything and will continue to receive their correspondence with the Trust the way they had done previously, without their care being affected at all.

The portal won’t contain any data relating to patients’ health records when they first log on, although information will start to become available once they’ve registered and patients will also be able to add information relating to their own care right away, such as tracking their symptoms or recording any medication they may take.
