Our Haematology team offer a high-quality service for the diagnosis and treatment of blood and bone marrow disorders, utilising best practice in line with national guidelines.

We are a hugely passionate team, with a focus on developing the service and patient experience, and have a close working relationship with nursing and medical colleagues.

At UHDB, our Haematology department is one of the fastest growing in the country.

We manage general haematological diseases including Haemachromatosis, Thrombotic Disorders, Chronic Myeloproliferative Disorders and Myelodysplastic Syndromes.

Our laboratory provides a high standard diagnostic service which supports the work of all other specialties and clinical services of the Trust. Our transfusion laboratory ensures a safe and effective blood transfusion service for the Trust. The department also provides a postal Warfarin Dosing service for patients in our catchment area.

We have chemotherapy suites and specialist outpatients at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton.
