To mark the one year anniversary of the pandemic, members of Team UHDB are sharing their thoughts and reflections of their personal and work lives during Covid-19.

The pandemic will have had a very different impact on each and every one of us, so the one year anniversary since we started to see the first inpatients admitted is a good opportunity to reflect on the year gone and to look forward.

Today, Macmillan Information Centre Assistant Judith Waddell, shares one thing she wants to take forward, one thing she wants to leave behind and one thing she’s looking forward to one year on from the beginning of the pandemic:

One thing I want to take forward…

I feel proud of the work I have achieved in difficult times whilst working with Cancer patients. They not only have to cope with the overwhelming difficulties that cancer can cause but have had to put up with COVID too.  Many have been very anxious regarding their health and keeping safe.

One thing I want to leave behind…

A hope one day that I will no longer have to wear a mask. Our patients cannot see me smiling at them or how compassionate I feel.

One thing I am looking forward to…

I am looking forward to having our specialist external services, such as the wig service and the Look Good Feel Better services, come back in a face-to-face environment, as well as other events around the Trust. I’m also looking forward to having a hug with people!
