New cushions purchased by our Tissue Viability Team to benefit our patients

Our Tissue Viability Team have purchased 1,200 new high risk pressure reducing cushions to benefit patients across the Trust.

An appropriate cushion is an essential element of the Trusts pressure ulcer prevention strategy and will reduce the overall harms caused by unrelieved pressure from a chair with no cushion.

The cushions that have been bought have a lower profile and cut outs for the “sitting bones” which will make them more comfortable for our patients to sit on; the cushions will also take weights of up to 40 stone, making them affective for the majority of our patients across UHDB.

The Tissue Viability Team will be installing these in wards and departments across the Trust over the next few weeks.
