New mural being created in forget me not garden

Forgot me not garden

A beautiful mural is being created in the ‘Forget Me Not Gardens’, located to the left of the main entrance at Royal Derby Hospital (next to the the Discharge Assessment Unit). This is a space to commemorate the staff that have passed away from the UHDB hospitals.

This hand painted mural is being created by Emma Bailey with her wonderful designs being complimented by the remarkable ceramic flowers made by Elaine Lim Newton.

Mural artist, Emma Bailey, has been working closely with Calke Abbey and the National Trust on the project and said they: “where delighted to get involved. They did all the research so we could come up with ideas that are inspired by their collection, their site and their very famous oak tree, ‘The Old Man Of Calke’.”

The colours in Emma’s designs are inspired by Elaine Lim Newton’s ceramic flowers which are another unique feature of the ‘Forget Me Not Garden’. Emma said: “colleagues, friends and families can commission Elaine Lim Newton to create one of these."

With the weather permitting, the walls will be full of stunning artwork by July.
