News regarding your UHDB Membership – launch of a new Strategy and Membership Tiers

We are writing to inform you of exciting new changes to your membership and engagement with the Trust.

One of the Council of Governors’ statutory duties, which reflects the fact that Foundation Trusts are based on the principle of local accountability, is to develop the membership of the Trust and represent the interests of its members and partner organisations in the local health economy linked to the Trust.

The Council of Governors has recently approved a new Membership Development Strategy (the Strategy) which was developed by the Council’s Members Engagement Group. The new Strategy aims to move the Trust’s membership forward and has new options for members to engage with the Trust.

As part of the new Strategy, we are introducing three levels of Membership (Tiers 1, 2 and 3) depending upon how involved you wish to be. Regardless of the Tier selected, all members are eligible to stand for election as a Governor and to vote for the Council of Governors.

Members will automatically default to Tier 1. If you wish to join Tier 2 or Tier 3 now, you can update your choice by accessing your membership account and clicking on your chosen Tier.

We have summarised the level of engagement of each Tier:

Tier 1 – Be informed.

  • This is the default Tier to which members will automatically be allocated.
  • You will receive information regarding the annual Governor elections, in which you are eligible to stand for election as a Governor and to vote for the Council of Governors.
  • You may attend events, such the Annual Members meeting and Health and Information talks.
  • You may attend the Council of Governor meetings and ask questions.
  • You will receive an email monthly newsletter update about the Trust and the Council of Governors * *(digital – email members only).

Tier 2 – Be engaged.

  • This Tier is only available for members who have provided an email address.
  • You will have the same benefits as Tier 1, and in addition:
  • You may be invited by the Trust to participate in surveys or questionnaires.

Tier 3 – Be involved.

  • This Tier is only available for members who have provided an email address.
  • You will have the same benefits as Tiers 1 and 2, and in addition:
  • You may be invited by the Trust to participate in workshops or focus groups to express your views directly in conversation with the Trust.

To update your level of engagement to Tier 2 or 3 (or add your email address):

  1. Type the URL www.cesvotes.com/UHDB2022 into your web browser
  2. Enter your 2 part security code
    Security code part 1: XXXXXX
    Security code part 2: XXXX
  3. Select your chosen Tier.

Full details of the new Strategy and details regarding membership, the Council of Governors, individual Governors, and events can be found on the UHDB website https://www.uhdb.nhs.uk/council-of-governors. You can also view the minutes and papers for the Council of Governors meetings in the same section.

The Council and its Governors will continue to engage with members and represent their views to the Trust.

We are encouraging all members to go digital, that means providing us with an email address, in order that we can communicate with you electronically rather than by post. Going digital is not only environmentally friendly, and cost effective for the Trust, it also provides you with more opportunities for getting involved. For those who have yet to go digital, but wish to do so, you can update your membership record with your email address using the process as above and inputting your email address in the relevant field.

The data you supply will be used only to contact you about the Trust, membership or other related issues and will be stored in accordance with the current Data Protection Act.

Thank you for continuing to support your Trust and Council of Governors.
