On our waiting list for an appointment? Here's how we will keep in touch.
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation trust (UHDB) has recently brought in new ways to keep in touch with patients waiting for an appointment.
We know that sometimes, patient's health or circumstances change while on our waiting lists, which may mean that they no longer need an appointment, or if they need more urgent care.
Now patients can keep in touch through our text messages and our Patient Hub portal, tell us if they still need their appointment, which means we can keep our waiting lists accurate and offer appointments sooner.
We will contact patients by text message, phone or letter every 11 weeks.
Here's the steps to follow if you get a text from us:
- You will need access to a smartphone or a device with internet connection.
- You will be sent a text message from us with a link to follow.
- The text message will read:
You have a new notification concerning an outstanding referral that you are on a waiting list for, please click this secure link https://www.uhdb.nhs.uk/patient-hub to get started.
If asked to provide a User Verification Code when logging in, enter [AAA].

Telling us if you still need to be on the waiting lists helps ensure that those who do not need to be on the list are removed, helping patients who do need to be seen get access to care quicker by reducing overall wait times.
If you want to get in touch to discuss your place on the waitlist, call the number listed on your letter or contact our switchboard and request to be put through to the department you need.
