Alistair Fraser-Moodie

Retired Derby A&E Consultant Alistair Fraser-Moodie sadly passed away on 21 May 2020.

Miss Susie Hewitt, Consultant Emergency Medicine and on behalf of the Royal Derby Hospital Emergency Medicine team, said: “Mr Fraser-Moodie was appointed as a ‘Casualty’ Consultant at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary in 1978. This was at the birth of the specialty of Emergency Medicine. In 2007 he became a full time Clinical Teacher of medical students before finally retiring from the NHS in 2014.

"Mr Fraser-Moodie, known by many as AFM, will be remembered by his colleagues as a real character. He was known throughout the hospital, especially for his charitable work, including the Scanner Appeal and the Flying Squad. During retirement he reflected on his fascinating medical career and many adventures resulting in the publication of his book ‘Medical Misadventures: 54 years at  the cutting edge of medicine’.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with his family.”
