UHDB patients benefiting from video consultations

Doctor talking about video consultations

We are now offering video consultations through NHS Attend Anywhere to some of our patients at UHDB.

Providing an alternative means for our patients to be seen that does not require them to come into hospital has been a key part of the Trust’s response to managing the threat of Covid-19.

Video consultations are easy to use and are often more convenient for patients, in that they can save them both time and money, by removing the need for them to travel to and from hospital.

Use of Attend Anywhere has allowed our staff to conduct virtual face-to-face appointments with outpatients throughout the pandemic, so as to allow them to receive the care that they need, from the safety of their own homes.

Making it easier for our patients to undergo appointments in this way has resulted in some fantastic feedback from patients, with one insisting that the availability of video consultations was “something positive to take from Covid-19”.

The secure web-based platform can be accessed on any PC, Mac, or iOS/Android device, with a medical professional making the decision on whether to offer this type of appointment, based on the patient’s individual care needs.

Patients can enter the platform via the Trust website, where they are greeted by the central admin team and then transferred to the specialty waiting area, where a clinician will be able to join the patient for the video consultation.

No patient information is ever stored on the platform and the administrative processes remain as they would be for normal face-to-face appointments.
