UHDB presented with the Brian Clough Award

UHDB Staff presented with the Brian Clough Award at Pride Park Stadium

Back in May, Derby County Football Club (DCFC) announced that their Brian Clough Award would be given to the NHS workers here at UHDB; for their dedication and outstanding efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This award, which is usually given to a DCFC employee for outstanding work, is an acknowledgement from the club of the efforts of NHS workers in the local area for their outstanding work over the past year.

All here at UHDB are so proud to have been given such a prestigious award and are humbled to know that their efforts and hard work through such a difficult time have been recognised by the club and wider community.

As DCFC are unable to host their usual Annual Awards event this year, UHDB colleagues were invited to Saturday’s season opener against Huddersfield, where Cathy Winfield, Director of Patient Experience and Chief Nurse, was presented with the Brian Clough Award during half-time at their home ground, Pride Park Stadium. The award was presented to Cathy and the Team by Roy MacFarland, former Football Manager and player; representing England internationally 1971-76.

Those who attended on behalf of the Trust said “it was lovely and a great honour” and “it was a fantastic day and I’m very proud to represent the Trust.”

Cathy said: “I’d like to thank Derby County Football Club for awarding the Trust with their Brian Clough Award.”

“They’ve given it to our staff for their work during the pandemic, which is really touching, and I would just like to say how grateful we are that they have chosen to recognise the work of our staff in this way.”
