UHDB vehicles turned pink to encourage more conversations about organ donation

UHDB vehicles have been wrapped in organ donation branding

Two UHDB vehicles have been daubed in designs promoting organ donation to encourage more people to have the important conversations with their loved ones and have been unveiled for Organ Donation Week.

The two estates vehicles, which serve all five of our hospitals across Derby, Burton, Tamworth and Lichfield, have been given a vibrant pink look, with the ‘Yes I Donate’ branding.

Dr Greg Fletcher, Clinical Lead for Organ Donation at Royal Derby Hospital, said: “As a Trust, we are extremely committed to doing all we can to increase awareness of this vital cause, and a large part of this work is raising awareness within our local communities. This vans are a perfect opportunity for us to spread the message that organ donation is so important, so it’ll be great to see them out and about on the roads in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Each year, hundreds of people die across the UK waiting for organ transplants. By discussing your wishes with loved ones, you could help prevent these deaths and potentially help save a life.

In addition to the newly decorated vans, the front of Royal Derby Hospital will be lit pink, pink puddings and cakes will be served and a pink Organ Donation air dancer will be placed outside each of our hospitals to mark Organ Donation Week. Derbyshire County Cricket Club players will also be wearing a specially designed pink Organ Donation training top for before their upcoming fixtures.
