Basic Life Support & Automated External Defibrillation
This course will help you understand the systematic approach to assessment of patients at risk of cardiac arrest (ABCDE); how to perform safe adult life support (CPR); how to safely operate the automated external defibrillator (AED); signs, symptoms and immediate management of anaphylaxis.

Recommended for all registered clinical staff with direct patient contact and doctors not on the resuscitation team.
May be relevant to registered clinical staff with indirect patient contact.

Assessment
Candidates are subject to continual assessment throughout the session and are required to be competent at cardiopulmonary resuscitation and safe operation of the AED. Successful completion of the session results in updating of training details on the staff database.

This session is free to all staff employed by the Trust who must register by using the online booking form on the Trust intranet.
External candidates will incur a charge of £35. External candidates ONLY please e-mail dhft.resuscourses@nhs.net.

The personal information you submit via the registration form is used to keep an accurate record of who is attending one of the advertised training courses. None of your personal information is sold on or shared with any third party organisation.
Who can access your information
Course administrators and facilitators. This access is required to confirm your registration and to keep an accurate record of who is attending each course.
Senior website administrators access your submitted personal information via a password protected secure access point within our website system. This access is required for technical support purposes.
How we store your information
When a form has been submitted we will keep a hard copy as required by the governing body of the course. Forms are kept for a maximum of 5 years in a secure environment.
How long we store your information for
We store personal information for as short a time as possible.
Unless you have otherwise stipulated within your submitted registration, your details will be removed from our protected hospital computer network shortly after you have attended your training course.
Removal of your information from our records
