This course aims to provide instruction in the practical management of critically ill surgical patients of all types. CCrISP aims to provide them with a common sense consensus approach to surgical critical care.

The course is targeted at basic surgical trainees from all disciplines, who are ideally approaching the end of their BST rotation. They should have undertaken at least 1 year of BST jobs and have at least 6 months of general surgery. The course also helps prepare surgeons for a specialist registrar post, where they will quickly have to cope with increased clinical responsibility and decision making.
The course is spread over 3 days.
The assessment on the course includes continual subjective assessment of the candidate’s core knowledge, clinical insight and enthusiasm and assessment of the final day scenarios.
