A member of the Car Parking team at Royal Derby Hospital has been praised for his "act of kindness" in helping a patient make it to their appointment on time.
Sue Stocks became stuck in heavy traffic when driving her mother, Margaret Wallis, to her appointment in the Kings Treatment Centre, and was becoming concerned about making the appointment time.

Children's Community Nursing team in running for second national award following win at Nursing Times Awards
A team of compassionate nurses working to ensure more children can receive end of life care at home with their loved ones has been recognised nationally after winning a Nursing Times Award - as well as being shortlisted for a second award. UHDB's Childrens' Community Nursing Team, working in partnership with colleagues from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) and Derbyshire Healthcare United (DHU), formed the 'Derbyshire Paediatric Palliative Care Urgent Response Service', to assist children to die in their own homes with their families and home comforts close by, when they otherwise have been admitted to a hospital or hospice.

Tobacco Dependency Treatment (TDT) Programme celebrates its 'First Birthday'
The Tobacco Dependency Treatment (TDT) programme recently marked a significant milestone, as it celebrated its one-year anniversary since its launch in September 2022 - helping thousand of patients on their journey to quitting smoking in just 12 months.
The TDT programme was launched across all UHDB sites to support patients and our communities in quitting smoking. This is a campaign that has been launched across the healthcare system in Derby and Derbyshire, as well as within our sites in East Staffordshire, which offers personalised support for treating tobacco addiction to all patients admitted to our hospitals, including pregnant people and their partners accessing maternity services.

Recruitment team's work to reduce time to shortlist interviewees recognised with national award win
The team was one of only three from 220 trusts in the UK to be awarded with the TRAC Benchmarking Award for Time to Shortlist earlier this month, with interview shortlisting taking an average of just 3.4 days for more than 450 vacancies in quarter two this year (July - September 2023).

Praise for Anaesthetics team after project helps save more than 1,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year
Thanks to the hard work and commitment of the Trust's Anaesthetics team, spearheaded by Anaesthetic Registrar, Dr Alex Churton, the use of desflurane has been reduced dramatically since 2022 - vastly reducing the amount of CO2 produced by the Trust while continuing to provide safe and effective anaesthesia to patients.
