Continuous Professional Development

Training and education doesn't end when you qualify. At University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, we have an extensive programme of education and training provided by our Continuing Professional Development Department. We provide opportunities for nurses, midwives, allied health care professionals, assistant practitioners and health care assistants to learn, develop and deliver safe and effective care.

The Professional Development Unit is committed to delivering patient centred care and support staff to do this with an array of training and development opportunities.

We also promote best practice through wider groups, which work together to review clinical practice, products and processes.

We are active and responsive to clinical needs across the Trust, providing individualised training where and when it is required.

Our training includes mandatory elements and range of practical sessions for those who require extended skills in order to deliver safe and effective care.

Our development opportunities are available to all grades of nurses and health care assistants. These include courses, resources and one-one sessions if requested.
