Factors affecting performance /interpretation of tests:

Please note that relevant interferences/limitations are detailed within the individual test information where appropriate.

There are however other rare contexts which may potentially lead to erroneous results.

If a reported result does not fit the clinical picture, please contact the laboratory to discuss further.

Further testing:

During clinical review and authorisation, certain patterns of results and clinical details may indicate the need for further testing. Where this follows local and national guidance and can be performed on the sample already present in the laboratory, these tests will be added at the discretion of the clinical staff authorising results.

Note: Tests that require additional discussion with patients such as Tumour markers, Genetics testing, Infectious disease testing, or that may generate results that require immediate clinical action such as Troponin will never be added without prior discussion with the requesting clinician.
