As a new Trust we wanted to bring all five hospitals and 12,500 team members together.
‘We’ looked at our ‘Why?’, our fundamental purpose, the thing that guides all we do.
‘We’ looked at our ‘How?’, the way we’re going to behave - with each other, our patients, partners and the public we serve.
‘We’ looked at the ‘What?’, the big steps we must take in the future.
We did this through Big Conversations…
More than 1,000 staff attended face-to-face Big Conversations and a further 2,000 contributed their ideas to our new vision and values. Through 8,500 contributions they said…
Together We make a difference, We save lives and give excellent care to everyone who needs it. We will become the best place to work, learn and receive care in the NHS by applying the highest level of skill, knowledge and research.
Our staff said they want UHDB to be a place where we provide ‘Exceptional Care Together’. So this will be our new identity…
When thinking about the how? – our staff have created a set of values and behaviours that are stretching and inspiring in equal measures. These will be our UHDB promises. They are powerful messages and will shape how we care for others and care for each other. These are Compassion, Openness and Excellence.
Lastly, our staff turned their attention to our aims, big steps we must we take in the future. Our staff said that we should continue to have PRIDE.
Our teams across UHDB will work to put the vision, values and behaviours at the very heart of what we do.
We want to thank everyone who took part in shaping our future. Thank you for creating something so powerful, and thank you for the work in the weeks, months and years ahead that will truly make UHDB a place where we provide Exceptional Care Together.
