One Voice group

One Voice is an open support group for women, their families and friends. We meet to give people with cancer an opportunity to get together for mutual help, support and information.

We have no formal membership and you are welcome to attend any of our meetings.

* Note - Unfortunately since March 2020 our UHDB One Voice support group has not been able to meet in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Monthly group meetings

The group meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month between 10am and 12pm at The Macmillan Cancer and Information Centre (near entrance 24), Royal Derby Hospital, Uttoxeter Road, Derby DE22 3NE.

Why should I join?

  • Share experiences with others who have had similar challenges and worries, who will become supporters and friends.
  • Participate in planned activities. During the past year these have included going to lunch, workshops, cosmetic demonstrations, a ‘Ladies Day’, and attending conferences.
  • Become better informed. Specialist speakers give presentations – hypnotherapy, complementary and alternative therapy, pathology, the genetic link to cancer, clinical trials.
  • Specialist nurses attend meetings and give valuable support and information.
  • Get out and socialise!

One Voice virtual support group

This virtual support group using Microsoft Teams has been set up as an alternative to our face to face One Voice support group during the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be held on the second Friday of each month at 2pm - 3pm.

The group is for ladies that have been diagnosed with any gynaecological cancer and our aim is to provide a safe and relaxing environment for people to share their journey and offer tips and support to others, whilst forming friendships and support networks. The virtual support group will be supported by the Gynaecology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists Claire, Sam & Sarah along with group volunteers.

Members are welcome to join the group at any stage from diagnosis, during or after treatment to living life with and beyond cancer. We hope to keep these meetings informal but will try to arrange external speakers if requested by members of the group.

If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please email:

*Note - you will need to create your own Microsoft teams account, and if using your mobile, you will need to download the Microsoft teams app.
