Teaching parents basic life support

This course will enable you to deliver Basic Life Support training to parents and carers using a 4 stage structured approach.

To provide insight into the practical teaching task, including care of equipment, time constraints and specific learner needs. To understand the legal issues and documentation associated with teaching individuals resuscitation skills.

Target Group

Registered Nurses that have achieved competence in paediatric basic life support within the last 12 months.

Assessment

The assessment component requires the candidate to teach an aspect of basic life support to a faculty member playing the part of a parent. After successful completion of the course the candidate needs to be initially assessed teaching parents by an ALSG/Resuscitation Council instructor in their practice setting.


Cost

This session is free to all staff employed by the Trust. 

External candidates will incur a charge of £100.

Who can access your information 

Course administrators and facilitators. This access is required to confirm your registration and to keep an accurate record of who is attending each course. 

Senior website administrators access your submitted personal information via a password protected secure access point within our website system. This access is required for technical support purposes.


How we store your information

When a form has been submitted we will keep a hard copy as required by the governing body of the course. Forms are kept for a maximum of 5 years in a secure environment.


How long we store your information for 

We store personal information for as short a time as possible. 

Unless you have otherwise stipulated within your submitted registration, your details will be removed from our protected hospital computer network shortly after you have attended your training course. 


Removal of your information from our records
